The second annual Shemenski Foundation Bowl-a-thon to “Strike Against Cancer” is almost here! Join us on Saturday, August 7th from 6:30 to 9:30 at Stones Lanes. Stones Lanes is located at 3746 Montgomery Road Cincinnati, Ohio 45212 (near Xavier University’s campus and Betta’s Italian Oven). www.stoneslanes.com In addition to plenty of fun and entertainment there will be a silent auction and raffle throughout the evening. Shemenski Foundation Raises Over $3,500 at the Hyde Park Blast

Thanks to all of our volunteers and supporters at the Hyde Park Blast Battle of the Booths! By working all of the beverage booths at the Blast, the foundation raised $3,707 in tips to help beat cancer. Congratulations to Caty Grzymajlo’s group for squeaking out the win in the Battle of the Booths.

Shemenski Foundation Sponsors a Booth at the 4th Annual Butterfly Walk

The Shemenski Foundation sponsored a bowling booth at the 4th annual Butterfly Walk and Fun Festival for CancerFree Kids in May 2010. Over 1,300 people came together to support children with cancer, remember those who have passed, and to celebrate life. Over $63,000 was raised at the Butterfly Walk to fund pediatric cancer research. Thanks to all who volunteered and came out to support the Shemenski Foundation booth at this event!

Shemenski Foundation Donates a Grant to CancerFree Kids

In May 2010 the Shemenski Foundation donated $20,000 to CancerFree Kids for Pediatric Cancer research. CancerFree Kids invited the foundation to participate on the Grand Selection Committee. Thirty applications were reviewed and with the help of doctors eight grants were awarded. The foundation’s grant was awarded to Dr. DasGupta to study the inhibition of pediatric brainstem glioma growth by genetic inhibition. Congrats to Dr. DasGupta and thanks to our supporters!

Shemenski Foundation Granted 501c3 Status

In April 2010 the Shemenski Foundation was granted 501c3 status and is now a federally recognized non-profit organization. Through the passion and dedication of the foundation members, the foundation was able to achieve this status in just over a year. This exceeded all expectations as the process takes some organizations several years to obtain!
